Our reasons for choosing, our RV over another may be different than yours.
We try to give you the process, as to why we picked our rig over something else.
This may help you decide what type of rig you want, or need.

Common types of Recreational Vehicles

We have always been travelers, planes, trains, cars, trucks and buses.
We have traveled using tents, mini vans, vans, truck campers, popup's, small trailers, larger bunk trailers, to 5th wheel trailers.
They all have their own advantages and disadvantages.
These are general differences we have found in RV's, and points to consider in your needs, or your next purchase.

Camping Travel Trailers
Trailers are measured from hitch point, to back of unit, you loose 4 feet usable living space
lager turn radius are needed per same length unit
can be pulled by car or truck depending on unit, truck bed available
generally low to medium prices, 12 - 30 foot length normal length
there are a wide selection of floor plans, and layouts
everything is on the same floor, no steps within rig
need heavy duty hitch, anti-sway bars, and equalizer bars for larger units

RV Motor Homes
loose 10 feet usable living space for driving area, dashboard entry doors
need a second motor vehicle to get around with, or must drive rig in town for supplies
generally more expensive to buy, run and maintain
generally less flexible layout, higher, more wind resistance, and sway
harder to find service for rig, may loose the use of unit while in service
all on one floor, usually no steps inside rig

5th wheel RV
all usable living space per length, from hitch point to back of unit
must have truck to pull unit around, loose part of truck bed to hitch
may need special slide hitch, for short bed trucks
largest variety in design and layouts, height and sway depends on unit
medium to high price, 18 - 40 foot length and depend on rig style
can be used to haul your toys, motor bikes, inside the RV
maybe steps inside unit, to areas above hitch

Note: We did not list conversion units, as these are specially items, suited for individual needs.

With those items in mind, and almost full time RV 'ers so we chose a 5th wheel.
Now the layout and selection process.
