The 5th Wheel Trailer Search

We started looking for our home, away from home, well ahead of retirement.
We decided on the 5th wheel Recreational Vehicle (RV, 5er), as this gave us the home, as well as a vehicle. We took into consideration, size, amount of usage, insurances, and using only one motor vehicle on the road. The length of the RV was to be no longer than 32 feet, as most RV parks to date, can not handle, or have very limited space for larger units. Our RV also had to have, a large window area, in the living room, and slide outs for maximum living space. Center door to get to the bedroom, and bathroom, storage area, easily with the slides in or out.
We then downloaded or acquired floor plans from all kinds of 5th wheels that met this shortened list. Floor plans in hand, we envisioned the traffic pattern, utilization, with slides, in or out. The weight, movement of parts, joints, and potential of repair. We tried to think of how and when,we would utilize the space. We thought of our own lifestyle, on the road, mostly in warm weather, moving to different locations, and wanting quick and easy setup.
A decision was made for the door to be in the middle, with easy access to the bathroom, a non island kitchen, for usage with slides in. The entrance with central location, would not to track dirt through the living room while carrying groceries, and packing for travel. The open area kitchen was chosen, as we did not need all that extra cupboard space, and area could be used with the slides closed in. The slide out kitchen area was not for us, thinking any thing that has pipes, joints, or cables is more apt to break, and ad weight. The area we spend most of our time in is, the living room, so more space for us here, and we would not feel so cramped. A slide out in bedroom was not needed, plenty of room without it, less weight, less to break too. We thought about washer and dryer, but after some consideration, with smaller loads that it take to long, then you would have to have full hookups, and 50 amp service, we left that out. Slides on both sides of the living room, provided open space, and more windows area, for the view, as My Backyard Changes. Working then with only a few that met this criteria, we kept coming back to the Titanium 32E37DS with cab over.
We then began the investigation, of the trailer type itself, the pros, and cons of the unique cab over design. This design gave us more space for the same length of trailer, hitch point to back. Cab over means the trailer front, extends over the cab of the truck. With cab over there is more living space for total length of the 5th wheel trailer. The hauling length is shorter, a smaller turn radius, an aerodynamic design, all meant less to weight, and less wind resistance. Light weight, design, solid wall sandwich construction, rubber roof, plywood floor boards, other Titanium Owners, all sold us.
Through online investigation we found, and learned more, about this unique design.

Note: Chipboard floors on RV's, once it gets wet underneath, they heave and turn soft, and eventually the floors have to be replaced. (from experience)
